Gratitude in my Granny

A testimony of the life and death of my grandmother Una. As I reflect on our relationship, I realise that I’m not necessarily grateful ‘for’ all things. But I am grateful for digging deep to find gratitude ‘in’ all things. RIP Granny.

  1. May I offer you my deepest condolences on the death of your Granny, Gavin. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. The photograph of both of you together exudes joy, warmth and closeness. I’d say you had plenty of laughs with her!!! Those memories will be a source of consolation to you in these days of loss. Thank God for her long life and may she rest in peace now in the presence of the Lord. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

    1. Thank you so much Gráinne! Your words bring much consolation. I did indeed have many laughs with Granny. She was one of a kind! Mourning her enables me to feel connected with many other people who experience loss too. I intend to reflect on the whole experience in a week or two, and perhaps do another video, blogpost or podcast. Kindest regards, Gavin

  2. R.i.p Granny and all my condolences to you and yours Gavin at this time. What a lovely tribute and keepsake for the day. My mum r.i.p was from Co. Donegal and a country girl with a deep faith, rich humour and determination also. My father r.i.p was also from countryside of Co. Donegal and had similar qualities to my mum but the humour was more subtle.
God bless Gavin and take care.

    1. That’s lovely to hear, Margaret. Wow, you’re so lucky to have roots in Donegal. What a beautiful county. Wonderful memories of your parents. Blessings, Gavin
